University of MN Student Housing

Located in the heart of Dinkytown, this is a wood-framed building with 5 levels including the basement.  A unique floorplan, with multiple-level units and staggered stairways, generated the need for creative structural solutions to allow for the load transfer down each floor level, and to ensure the connections and framing methods were in compliance with the fire code requirements.  The result was a very intricate floor plan that was easily constructed – on time and under budget.
